EMG Electromyography Unit

Electromyography is a electrophysiological study of the neuromuscular system that is a complement to neurological analysis. This test is personalised based on the patient’s medical history and neurological examination.

Health Care
The Foundation’s EMG service has 9 specialised doctors as well as the corresponding nursing staff. It has 5 electromyography apparatuses to carry out the examinations.

The service mainly attends outpatients referred from health centres, but the health assistance carried out as part of the public hospital network (XHUP) is becoming increasingly important. This unit has collaboration agreements with several public hospitals, so that the Foundation carries out EMGs for the following hospitals: Granollers Hospital, Alt Penedès Hospital, Sant Celoni Hospital, Terrassa Hospital.

The service performs 12,000 examinations annually and is one of the centres of Catalonia that carries out most examinations. It is the main provider of this test for the Catalan Health Institute.
