What is the Without Shoes Program?
It is a program that consists in collecting new shoes and distributing them to entities that attend homeless people and people in situations of social exclusion. The purpose of this program is to make donated new shoes available for the entities that work with groups at risk of social exclusion and homeless people.
How did it start?
It became clear for the people managing the Day Centre for Homeless People that shoes were another necessity that needed to be addressed and there was no entity that provided new shoes for these people.
What is the aim?
The aim is to support the entities that work in the insertion processes for people at risk of social exclusion, promote solidarity and social participation in improving the living conditions of people in situations of poverty.
Who supervises this project?
The project is supervised by the Director of the Department of Community Resources of Sant Pere Claver Hospital Foundation and creator of the program, Joaquim Corral.
What benefits does the donating entity receive?
In this case, the fiscal benefits for donating are 25% in IRPF and 35% in IS (Law 49/2002, of the 23rd of December 2002, of the de fiscal regime of non-profit entities and of fiscal incentives for patronage, modified by the Law 62/2003, of the 30th of December, of fiscal, administrative and social order measures).
Who is this program aimed at?
This program is aimed at:
- Companies, factories, shops and other establishments that have shoe stocks which they are willing to donate.
- Entities that work with people at risk of social exclusion and homeless people interested in receiving shoes.
What type of shoes can you donate?
Any type of new shoe, except those designed for very specific activities, such as ballet. It is also possible to donate new shoes with defects.
Who receives the shoes?
The area initially covered is the city of Barcelona and the public and private entities that work with homeless people and people at risk of social exclusion in this area.
As the project becomes more consolidated and the distribution increases, the program will expand to include all of Catalonia.
What guarantee is there of the transparency of the process?
The entities with which we work sign a document that guarantees that they will deliver the donation to the appropriate groups of people and in no case will they obtain any payment for the shoes.
Before this agreement is settled we have a time period to get to know the applying entity and check the information they provide.
Information on the donations and actions of the Without Shoes Program is detailed in the Foundation’s webpage, in other information media of the city, and the Catalan Federation Of Volunteer Entities, etc.
